Barty Wears it Pink!
Barty House took part in the national fundraising day ‘wear it pink’ on Friday 20th October in aid of Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity.
Leading up to the day Barty House residents and staff got creative, and made their very own ‘wear it pink’ t-shirts. Residents had great fun covering their hands in bright pink paint, and placed them on the breasts of the t-shirts highlighting the issue at hand, breast cancer awareness. Making sure anyone wearing the t-shirts couldn’t help but be reminded that regular breast checks are vitally important, in the fight against breast cancer.
However, the craft sessions were so popular with the residents, friends and family couldn’t wait to make a t-shirt of their own. All the donations made from the t-shirts meant that Barty House raised an incredible £222.30 to donate to the wear it pink charitable fund for breast cancer research.
Judith Coveney, Head of Activities from Barty House Nursing Home said: “We really enjoyed taking part in wear it pink this year, it was wonderful to see all of our residents, families and friends coming together to fundraise, whilst dressed in pink!”
