Care Home Open Day 2017

To mark National Care Home Open Day on Friday 16th June, Canford Healthcare Homes across the country opened their doors to the public, with Barty House Nursing Home putting on a wonderful afternoon at their Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

The team transformed the reception into a magical Mad Hatter’s wonderland. A long elegant dining table was heavily decorated with delectable treats, special “drink me” potions and beautifully decorated cupcakes, a spread fit for the queen of hearts! Flamingos and bunting hung from the ceiling, tea was being served in ornate vintage china tea cups and the team dressed for the occasion with their very own Alice and the Mad Hatter.

The occasion was also marked by the official opening of the Barty House Summer House, a project the team have been working tirelessly on for the past few months. The pretty decked house opens out onto the garden, and is completed with large ornate arm chairs, so all residents can enjoy a little time away and watch the rabbits play amongst the grass. The summer house was opened by Barty’s very own Queen of Hearts, resident Olive Mc’Connell.

Head of Activities Jude Coveney added “There are days in life more notable than others days that attach themselves to your soul and stay with you. Days that when you recall them, your heart flutters and a light shines in your eye. Our Care Home Open Day was indeed one of those wonderful days.”
