Teddy Bear’s Picnic

For every bear that ever there was

Will gather there for certain

Because today’s the day the

Teddy Bears have their picnic….

It was picnic time for Teddy Bears young and old at Barty House on Tuesday 20th March. The children arrived clutching their much-loved bears as did the residents in excited anticipations of the morning’s events.

Valerie introduced the children to two of her oldest bears both named Ted who were each 84 years old and still dressed in the little garments her mother had knitted for them when Valerie was just a little girl. Together the residents and the children made marmalade sandwiches for the picnic and decorated little cupcakes with edible bears and sprinkles.

They had a Teddy Bear story time where everyone including the Teddies were well behaved, followed by as many teddy bear songs as we could think of to sing together.

Before settling down to tuck into their little picnics, the children politely handed out marmalade sandwiches to the residents to eat, with their cups of tea.

It was a magical morning at Barty House enjoyed by us all and …..  At twelve o’clock their Mommies and Daddies

Will take them home to bed

Because they’re tired little Teddy Bears
