Tunbridge Wells Care Centre creates 100 Jobs.
A specialist nursing home for the care of people with dementia opens in Tunbridge Wells later this month. The Tunbridge Wells Care Centre, located on Upper Grosvenor Road, provides 70 beds in a purpose built facility, and also heralds the creation of 100 new jobs in the area.
The announcement of the opening coincides with Dementia Awareness Week, taking place this week (4 - 10 July 2010). It is estimated that there are about 750,000 people in the UK with dementia. The requirement for specialist dementia care is steadily increasing year on year. While dementia mainly affects older people, it can affect younger people too with over 16,000 people in the UK under the age of 65 who have dementia. The Tunbridge Wells Care Centre, the fourth care home for leading Canford Healthcare Group, is actively looking for applications for a range of vacancies including nursing, catering and support staff.
Barry Lambert, a director of the Canford Healthcare Group, comments: “The Tunbridge Wells Care Centre specialises in caring for people with dementia related illnesses. The manager at the centre, Fiona Lydon, has already received commendation for her work in this area. We recognise that people suffering from dementia need highly specialist quality care and we have designed and developed this home to provide this.”
The care home provides therapeutic activity programs, including sensory equipment and complimentary therapies for dementia sufferers and has a dedicated wing for the frail elderly too.
