Every fortnight, music therapist Marina visits Maples Care Home for an interactive and musical afternoon activity.

Bringing with her a selection of musical instruments and equipment including maracas, tambourines, plastic plates and pom poms to encourage all the residents to move to the music.

All things French!

Over the month of July residents at Maples have been looking at all things French, to coincide with Le Tour de France. From learning the language, creating works of art and trying different food and drink!

July has begun with French lessons from a local teacher, called Steffi Morgan. Residents and staff worked together to call out the numbers and small words they remembered, and the morning finished with everyone singing Frere Jacques!

Garden Launch

Over the past few months the team at Maples Care Home have been hard at work transforming their garden into a sensory oasis, with help from Santander, the local scouts group, families, friends and of course the residents.

As part of Santander’s Discovery Days scheme, the bank’s Bexley Branch spent the day at the care home helping redevelop the garden and generously contributing £250 towards the materials to get the garden off to a great start.

Memorial Service

On Sunday 25th June, Maples held its first memorial service of thanksgiving and remembrance. Local vicar Sue and assistant Jo, led the service, both of whom are regular visitors to the home.

Family and friends of residents who had passed in the past year were invited to the home to remember their loved ones. Everyone joined in on the short service of prayers, lit candles of remembrance and were invited to place a heart with their relative/friend on the memorial wall.

To mark National Care Home Open Day on Friday 16th June, Canford Healthcare Homes across the country opened their doors to the public, with Maples Care Home offering an afternoon of live entertainment and a delectable afternoon tea in the gardens.

Monthly church service – Easter

On the third Monday of every month residents and family enjoy our regular visit from the clergy family from Christ Church Bexleyheath. Our Easter theme contained some favourite hymns and Bible readings.
