To celebrate National Ice Cream Month in July, Mayflower hosted a Ice Cream afternoon on Tuesday 1st August. They were lucky enough to be joined by local dessert company Treatz, who have a store in Gravesend. Dessert artist Sadiyah from Treatz visited the home along with mascot ‘Mr Bubbilicious’, bringing with them delicious cupcakes and their special Ferrero ice cream for everyone to try.Read More
On Friday 21st July, Mayflower residents indulged in a delicious cheese and wine tasting afternoon, all residents from each floor were invited to the Diamond dining room. Residents had an array of different cheeses to try, with a choice of camembert, brie, smoked Applewood and a garlic flavoured cheese, it was enough to get everyone’s taste buds tingling.Read More

Every Thursday hairdresser Julie visits Mayflower Care Home, ready to wash, cut and style the residents hair. Julie has been visiting the home since it opened, so she is a firm favourite with everyone.
Residents can also have a manicure, staff Amy and Hannah, are on hand with a variety of colours for the residents to choose from. Making sure they are properly pampered!
These activities give residents a chance to feel special, looked after and most importantly carry on doing those simple things (like getting your hair cut) that they used to do all the time.Read More
The staff at Mayflower Care Home have joined a Ladder to the Moon course for a year.
The team receive boxes each month with different equipment and materials that can be used creatively for the benefit of our residents.
In February, we received the ‘fish box’, so the team came up with an underwater theme competition for the whole home to get involved. We started the competition at the end of March and each floor had 6 weeks to create something that was under the sea themed to decorate the corridors, rooms and communal areas. The excitement was clear to see, with all residents and relatives getting involved.Read More
At Mayflower, our residents have been enjoying weekly active armchair sessions with The Right Step Dance Company.
This initiative has been such a great success that the activity team decided to extend this fun and healthy activity – and so on the 3rd November the Right Step Dance Company began regular Circle Dance sessions with our residents.
Carers and visiting relatives joined in and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They told us just how much they are looking forward to the next session!Read More
