National Care Home Open Day
On the 17th June National Care Home Open Day took place across the UK, and Pentlow Nursing Home were excited to take part.
The initiative aims to build strong links between homes and the local community and to showcase all of the great work that goes on every day in care homes. Pentlow and the rest of the Canford Healthcare group, were very keen to take part in this initiative and a fantastic day was planned for the home.
The theme for the day this year was “Celebration” and Pentlow decided to have a celebration of Eastbourne and the history of the town. We invited the Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Pat Hearne, to join us for the occasion and residents eagerly awaited meeting her.
We all gathered in the lounge ready for her arrival, and after she had met the manager she was introduced to the residents and staff. We sat together and had a lively discussion over a
cup of coffee on a range of mutual interests and memories of the town and how it used to look. Conversation was flowing and there was plenty of laughter to be heard.
Our chef had skilfully prepared a tasty range of savoury snacks and sweet treats which were enjoyed by all.
Before leaving the Mayor posed for photos and Mary, a resident at the home, presented her with a basket of flowers to thank her on behalf of everyone for coming and for making the day extra special.
The Mayor obviously enjoyed her visit as she made us promise to invite her again in future!
