New Home Manager at Pentlow

Canford Healthcare are pleased to announce the appointment of Cristina Samoila as Home Manager of Pentlow Nursing Home.

Cristina has over 30 years experience as a registered nurse. Having began her career as a pediatric nurse for seven years, she then worked at a military hospital in the Neurosurgery department and operations theatre in Romania for 17 years. She relocated to the UK in 2010 and worked in a nursing home in Uckfield.

Whilst holidaying in Eastbourne in 2012, Cristina fell in love with the seaside town and decided to move to the area, appreciating its beautiful charm and strong sense of community. Cristina was previously Deputy Manager at Inglewood Nursing Home, another Canford Healthcare service, before taking the position at Pentlow Nursing Home in May 2017.

Commenting on her promotion as Home Manager of Pentlow Nursing Home, Cristina said “As a qualified nurse I am extremely passionate about delivering exceptional person-centred care to our residents and ensuring the highest standards of care are met. I want to make sure that our residents have the opportunity to live life to the full and I am passionate and somewhat fanatical about providing innovative ways for that quality care to be delivered. I love the feeling that working in a nursing home provides, it’s like having an extended family. I love to laugh with my residents and usually do so many times a day.”

Since taking on her role at Pentlow, Cristina has already started to make positive changes. One of those being to introduce a new electronic care planning tool into the home. The new system will provide a more effective method for recording and monitoring care and the quality of service provided to residents to make sure that standards are always maintained. In addition, Pentlow Nursing Home is the first home in Eastbourne to take part in a new pilot programme trialing a virtual GP information system.

Debbie Inkersole, Operations Manager says “Cristina brings a wealth of experience to Pentlow. We are delighted that she shares our values, hopes and aspirations for Pentlow and of her plans to positively impact the future provision at Pentlow Nursing Home.”
