The Grosvenor unit at Tunbridge Wells has been transformed, with four new display areas for the dementia residents. It includes two corner shops complete with pre decimalisation till and replica every day products from 50’s onwards.
These displays promote mental stimulation from a period in the residents lives that are most prevalent to them. With many kinds of dementia, it is the long-term memory that comes to the fore and the displays are there to help relieve some of the anxieties that also come with dementia. The new café area which was created for some of our residents who find other areas a little too noisy, now have a quieter area of the unit to enjoy and it is already being used by these residents when it comes to meal times.
