Chief Financial Officer

Stephen is a commercially orientated finance leader with a strong track record of delivery and expertise.

After gaining a degree in mathematical studies from Sheffield University, Stephen trained as a chartered accountant at BDO Binder Hamlyn in London, (the world’s fifth largest accountancy network) where he rose to become a manager. He has since performed key roles at a senior level in a very wide range of industries including healthcare, waste management/utilities, energy and house building.

Stephen joined Canford Healthcare in 2017 as Chief Financial Officer, and is Company Secretary and a member of the Board. He chairs the Corporate Risk Committee, providing financial advice and guidance to the senior management team. He also leads the finance and payroll functions, as well as IT and administration, across the business. Stephen has led the finance department successfully during a period of substantial change, developing a highly focused team and driving significant improvements in technology, financial processes and controls, together with cost-saving initiatives. Based in Bournemouth, the finance team provides valuable support to Canford Healthcare’s 11 homes.
