Cedars has been re-accredited as part of the Gold Standards Framework (GSF), and we have also received GSF’s Quality Hallmark Award in recognition of our excellent end-of-life care.
Our home manager, Victor Zingoni, and end-of-life lead Debbie Day picked up the award at the GSF annual conference and awards ceremony in London, recently.
Victor says: “We are delighted to be reaccredited, but to receive the Quality Hallmark Award as well is a resounding affirmation of how hard we work to embody the Gold Standard in everything we do. For us it’s a whole home approach, and everyone has a part to play.”
Debbie, who is a qualified Soul Midwife, adds: “This award means so much to the home and our staff. Our palliative and end-of-life care is personal to the person and family, and each member of the home team works very hard to achieve this, whatever their role.”
“The standard of care and compassionate cultures that has been observed is truly inspiring, showing a commitment to that ensuring people receive the right care at the right time, which has a positive impact on the people cared for and their families,” says Julie Armstrong-Wilson, Chief Operating Officer for GSF.
“Listening to what matters most to each and every individual and providing care in accordance with their goals, wishes and preferences is the Gold Standard. With our ageing population it is so important we enable them to live well, and when the time comes deliver quality care in their final year/days of life.”
Earlier in the year we were honoured and delighted that our ‘gold standard’ palliative care was recognised at the Palliative and End-of-Life Awards. Cedars won the prestigious Support for Family Carers Award, which celebrates exceptional support provided to residents and their families at an emotional time, within ‘a comfortable and welcoming environment’. We were also a finalist in two other categories – the Palliative Residential Care Provider and The Lifetime Achievement to Excellence in Palliative Care Award (for Debbie).
Next month we will be attending the East of England Great British Care Awards final, as we are in the running for no less than five categories, including registered manager and palliative/end-of-life care for Victor and Debbie, respectively.
Debbie is a true veteran, having won the regional trophy no less than seven times and the national award twice. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for her, Victor, our home, staff and all our lovely residents!
