Atie’s exceptional ability to manage the night shift brings peace of mind to everyone at Inglewood Nursing Home. “I sleep peacefully when she’s on duty. I have no doubts that she will manage everything she needs to unless there’s a fire or flood – and then she’ll call me!” says home manager Rani Raju.
Atie, who grew up and trained as a nurse in Bulgaria, knows her residents intimately and is fiercely protective of their safety and wellbeing, treating them with the same love and care she would offer her own parents. She performs frequent checks throughout the night, ensuring that residents are comfortable. For those who are awake she offers a comforting presence, sitting with them and providing solace, especially for those nearing the end of life. Her personal touch has brought peace to countless residents and their families.
Atie’s leadership shines through in her precise and rigorous standards for her team of carers. She closely monitors their work, offering support when required. For her, residents’ care and needs are everyone’s top priority. Under her guidance, carers are attentive and proactive, ensuring that every detail is attended to.
She is known for her meticulous approach to every aspect of her role. When residents show even minor changes in their wellbeing, Atie takes swift action, often contacting out-of-hours medical services to ensure the best possible care. Her vigilance has earned her the trust of families who know that she will advocate for their loved ones at every turn.
Even tasks that others may avoid, such as managing monthly medication changes, are embraced by Atie. This labour-intensive responsibility involves checking care plans and medication records, chasing up incomplete orders and organising supplies – all of which she completes with characteristic diligence and efficiency.
With over 14 years here at Inglewood, Atie’s dedication has not gone unnoticed. Her colleagues describe her as a skilled and knowledgeable nurse, a supportive leader and a joy to work with. They also praise her adaptability, teamwork and unwavering professionalism.
