Residents at Maples Care Home were all smiles this Easter, thanks to a heartwarming donation of chocolate eggs by a very special Easter bunny – and a Good Friday appearance on national TV!
The bunny in question was Ella Parsons who, for the second year running, has collected and donated Easter eggs to care home residents in the London Borough of Bexley. This was inspired by the loss of her beloved grandad in 2023, and she wanted to do something to “spread joy and happiness”.
“This year I exceeded 1,070 eggs and visited 15 care homes to put a smile on 1,000 people’s faces,” she told Channel 5’s The Vanessa Show.
Sitting on either side of Ella during the interview, residents Mary and Doreen beamed as they resolved to save their eggs for later.
“Ella, you’re doing a lovely thing. You’ve made our day,” Vanessa said, before advising residents to enjoy every bite of their eggs.
“This is a lovely gesture,” said Nicola Bundock, Maples’ home manager. “We all agree that Ella’s charity work goes above and beyond – and the chocolate is a bonus!”
“Ella spent quality time chatting with each resident and asked them to choose which egg they preferred. We’re so grateful that she chose our home again this year, as chocolate goes down well with our residents!” added Kay Prizeman, head of activities.
