Inglewood Nursing Home is delighted to welcome Jexy Joby Annanattukaran as our new clinical manager. Far from being a newbie at the home, however, Jexy is a familiar and friendly face who’s been part of the Inglewood team since August 2023.
Originally from Kerala, a lush and vibrant region in Southern India, Jexy shares her roots with our home manager, Rani Raju. “She grew up in a town not far from me, although we never met until I came to Inglewood,” Jexy says.
Jexy has always wanted to be a nurse – in fact, several of her cousins are in the profession. So, after finishing school she completed a three-year nursing diploma and began her career as a hospital nurse, first working in an outpatient department and later in a neurology intensive care unit and ward. “My second role was more specialised,” she explains, “giving me the confidence and experience to grow in my nursing journey.”
At this point Jexy decided to advance her career by moving to the UK. First, she gained a degree in Adult Nursing with the University of Bedfordshire. While studying, she gained hands-on experience in care, initially as a care assistant then progressing to a team leader role. Other qualifications followed, including a Level 7 in Leadership and Management and a MSc in Healthcare Management at Edinburgh Napier University.
Having gained registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, Jexy worked at several nursing homes in East Sussex before joining Inglewood in 2023 on a part-time bank contract. A year later she stepped into a full-time role, followed by her most recent promotion to clinical manager.
Jexy opted to stay in social care rather than return to hospital work. “I’m now much more familiar with nursing homes, and I really enjoy the environment and caring for the residents,” she shares. “Nursing is a noble profession. Being a nurse gives me a sense of purpose, and there are also plenty of exciting career opportunities.”
Here at Inglewood Jexy is working with Rani and the rest of the team to deliver a high standard of care. As clinical manager, she is also responsible for maintaining compliance with CQC guidelines and fostering a positive working environment.
“My goal is to support our team, enhance residents’ wellbeing and uphold our company values of Care, Family, Honesty and Commitment,” she explains. “I’m settling in well, thanks to the support from Rani and the whole team, many of whom I already know from working part time at the home last year.”
Outside work Jexy enjoys spending time with her husband, who also works in healthcare, and their two children.
She says: “I also love cooking, watching films, listening to music and travelling. We go back to India most years to visit our relatives, but in between visits technology enables us to keep in touch!”
